PLEASANT RIVER: BARN
This is perhaps one of the loveliest settings on Vinalhaven.
Although not on the ocean, Pleasant River is a tidal
waterway, a perfect place to launch canoes or kayaks. It is
a place for soulful healing, meditation, and peace, with hiking trails on the property along Pleasant River. There are bikes, a canoe and kayak for your use.
Barn: The living quarters in the barn
are along the opposite side of the barn that faces the
house. It looks over the serene Pleasant River and is
very comfortably furnished. The living room with its
many windows has the cozy charm of an old cast iron cook
stove. The kitchen off the living room is small, but
efficient, but with the view out the windows – who cares?
There is a queen size bed in one bedroom and 3 sets of built
in bunk beds in the other and a full bathroom. Washer and
dryer are out in the barn that is specially equipped with a
swing to entertain the rug rats on a rainy day. There is
also a large deck along the side and front of the barn –
very separated from the farmhouse. This is an ideal
location for a family gathering, or if you’re willing to
share the great outdoors with another family, the farmhouse
and barn may be rented separately. Renters of the house and guest house attached to the barn BOTH have access to the barn, but at the discretion of the guest house renters. The privacy of the renters in the guest house should be honored and respectful attention to noise seriously kept in mind. Along with the
barn, there is a house that can be rented along with
the barn, or separately.
Barn
$900/week in June. No pets and no TV.
House: Upon entering this well cared for farmhouse, you will feel
the comfort of the generations who have lived here before
you. It is sunny with open views over the fields to the
river. The walls are adorned with beautiful watercolors
painted by the owner of this home. The cheery living
room with lemony walls, fireplace, wood floors, large
windows and a wide array of books will invite you to sit,
relax and renew your harried being. The well-equipped
kitchen will beckon you to bake a batch of chocolate chip
cookies, steam a pot of lobster to feed all the hungry
bellies after a day of swimming in the quarries, hiking or
kayaking. There are 5 bedrooms with 2 queen beds, 2
twins, a king and a single. There are 3 full bathrooms,
washer and drier, a covered porch and large deck. There is
even a vegetable garden. Come and feel cared for (even if
you have to do you own cooking). House $2300/week. No pets and no TV.
